| King Construction was founded in 1947 by Cecil King in response to increasing demands for grain bins. King sought to create a business which provided state-of-the-art construction as well as outstanding customer service. At this same time King Construction became associated with Butler Manufacturing Company—the world’s premier manufacturer of pre-engineered metal building systems. King Construction holds the distinction of having the longest relationship with Butler than any other Butler builder in the world. Since Butler Manufacturing has consistently led the industry in product development, our association with Butler has given us the competitive edge we share with our customers. Grain bin construction was the Company’s mainstay through the mid 1960s. During the decade of the 1960s, King Construction began expanding into the Industrial and Commercial building markets while maintaining their preferred-builder reputation in the agricultural sector. In the middle 70's, LaVerne Sharar purchased the company from Cecil King who entered into retirement. In 1987, Kevin Knutson acquired the Company from LaVerne Sharar who also retired and then added his name to King’s to form the business King-Knutson Construction. Kevin carried on the King tradition of excellence in construction and customer service. The Company was eventually purchased in 1997 by LaVerne's grandsons, Lance and Lincoln Sharar. In 2007, Lance & Lincoln changed the name back to the original name of King Construction, Inc. and later to King Construction & Overhead Door, Inc. In 2007, Lance & Lincoln purchased LMS Flooring, Inc. from their parents, Larry and Leona Sharar. Now operating under the name Sharar's Floor Coverings, Inc., the business is under the same roof as King Construction & Overhead Door, Inc.'s Iowa Falls location and offers a wide variety of flooring products. King Construction specializes in design-build commercial and industrial projects. The design-build approach to construction offers distinct advantages over traditional methods. Design-build simplifies the building process allowing both design and construction professionals to work as a team. This single-source of responsibility results in more accurate communication and more reliable cost estimates with fewer changes. Fewer changes mean projects are completed on time and within budget. King Overhead Door serves residential, commercial and agricultural customers with its wide range of services. From servicing all brands of overhead garage doors and openers, to selling Clopay and CHI overhead garage doors and Liftmaster brand openers, both commercially and residentially. We offer consistent service to the North Central Iowa area. King Construction & Overhead Door, Inc. is located in Iowa Falls, Iowa and has been in the same building for all its years in business. In 1947, the King Construction staff consisted of just two individuals. Today we have over 25 employees, some of whom have been with us for as long as 20+ years. We have also added a second location in Clear Lake, Iowa to be better serve our customers. As King Construction continues to grow and plan for the future, a strong commitment to quality guides each and every project we undertake.
